First of all I apologize for my lack of postings these days! I didn't realize it had been as long as it has!
Our baby Drake is 15 weeks old today! I can't believe it! He has grown so much, from this teeny tiny newborn to a chunky smiley little infant. He has become so active & fun, showing us lots of personality! Some of the things he loves to do on a daily basis is: swing, watch Yo Gabba Gabba on Noggin (probably the most annoying show on the planet, but it gives me time to get a shower everyday :), play on activity mat, sit in his high chair, sit with the help of his boppy on the couch, play & chew on his hands & his most favorite time sleeping with Mommy or Daddy.
He is so alert these days & studies everything in his surroundings. He has discovered that we have dogs & cats & likes to watch them as they play around the house. He also has come to know who his Mom & Dad are & keeps us in eye view at all times. Just this week he has laughed out loud a few times & is drowling like crazy. I think we may be working on getting some teeth. He hasn't been too fussy about it, but the drowl & the chewing on his hands (or anything he can get in his mouth) is always occuring.
The breast feeding/bottle feeding seems to be a constant issue. The week before I came back to work in mid July was horrible. Drake decided he was NOT going to take the bottle at all!!! It was a very long & stressfull week for everyone, but with lots of patients we over came it. He now has 2 to 3 bottles every day if I have to work or not. He takes them ok, but not always great. He does good for Mom & Dad, but is giving Tammy (our sitter) a hard time. Friday he is going to spend the night at Nana's (my Mom's) so Dustin & I can have an evening together, we will see how he does there ( I may be taking a middle of the night drive to Kearney). As much as I was dreading breast feeding, now that we have it down I do enjoy it & Drake loves it. I was going to wean him because we were having so much trouble, but I think we have finally come to a way that will work for us. I will say we probably will not be breast feeding our next kiddo!
I think we are finally settling into our new life as a family. Now that everyone is somewhat back to a normal schedule we are starting to have more of a routine. The hard part I haven't quite figured out yet is how to sleep & keep him on a daily routine. The good thing is Drake will stay in bed with me most of the day as long as I let him nurse as he desires. It does let me get some sleep & so far it hasn't seemed to throw off his bed time or night routine. I figure I better get my sleep & snuggles in while he will let me!! :)
What else....
Dustin's Mother is going to be moving in with us in September. She is a flight attendent & will physicallly only be staying at our house a handfull of days a month. We are saving her some on rent & she will be helping us out with Drake. We decided on this because when she has days off she stays with us anyway. We will be converting our family room in the next few weeks into an apartment for her. I think it will work out good as it has a full bath, an outside entrance, a closet & room for a bedroom & a living room area. The only bad thing is our laundry is in the basement so we will have to pass thru to get to that often, but we will figure things out as we go. :)
Dustin has been super busy with side jobs. He has done a couple decks & a basment finish. It seems like he is always working, which he is. I will be glad when we get our debt paid off in the next year so he won't have to work as much. It makes him tired & we miss him at home! On a good note he is really good at what he does!
I think that is really all for now. I am at work so I can't post pictures, but I promise I will try to get some up by the end of the weekend! They are up to date on Facebook if you want to check our little guy out there, he is super cute!! I can't believe how much I LOVE that baby boy!
